Principal's Commendations
Principal's commendation badges are given out for truly exemplary behaviour. 18 students (6 per term) are awarded each year.
winners 2021/22
Autumn term:
Lola (Y7) - For making an exceptional contribution to English this term and for her consistent effort, punctuality and incredible politeness.
Liam (Y8) - For being such a hard-working student. Liam always gets on with the work and is very keen on participating.
Claudia (Y9) - For her continued effort in giving back to the school as a prefect and mental health ambassador. Claudia is always helpful and respectful and cares about her form and year group and wants to ensure their voices are heard.
Tara (Y10) - For consistently focusing, contributing excellent ideas and being a really hard-working member of her English class. Tara has also made excellent progress in science this year.
Daniela (Y11) - For consistently going above and beyond in all areas of education. Daniela works ridiculously hard in lessons, always participating and putting 100% effort in. Daniela has been revising hard for her PPEs and has supported her peers to revise too. She is a vice house captain and has been instrumental in trying to plan events to enrich the school curriculum. Daniela is also a mental health ambassador and has been working hard on raising the profile of mental health. She has also asked to join the prom committee to ensure Y11 students have the best send off. There is nothing Daniela can't or won't do for her studies, the school and her peers.
Keira (Y13) - For being professional at all times throughout the Y6 summer school, despite having some challenges and situations to deal with. She was organised, friendly and patient with everyone around her and is a great asset to the sixth form student leadership team. Keira has also shown persistent hard work, in and out of the classroom. She has developed fine critical thinking and independence skills that have allowed her to progress in social sciences. She has faced the subject with great ambition and has continuously displayed the features of a model student since the start of the course.
winners 2020/21
Spring term:
Ethan (Y7) – For his continued fantastic engagement online and offline in lessons and in tutor time. Ethan consistently gets a high amount of character credits and has, on several occasions, received the highest amount in his year group.
Vachan (Y8) – For continually going above and beyond in English lessons during lockdown this term. Not only has Vachan achieved 100% attendance, he has completed every piece of work to the best of his ability, requested feedback to support his own development, participated in out-of-class writing competitions and supported his peers to access learning.
Elijah-Ray (Y9) – For tackling all aspects of lockdown with great optimism. Things have not always been straight forward but Elijah-Ray has done his best and this is something that others can learn a lot from.
Umaymah (Y10) – For always being very polite, on time to lessons, very helpful and for putting great effort into her lessons, particularly French.
Alfie (Y11) – For showing personal resilience and empathy for all those around him. Alfie exemplifies the PROUD values of our school consistently. He contributes to all situations with humour and politeness, stepping up to challenges and unfailingly trying his best. Alfie faces every challenge head on and even when he does not always succeed, he never loses his determination and optimism. He is an inspirational young man.
Holly (Y13) – For coming so far since her mentoring sessions in Years 8 to 11. She has achieved so much and now that she believes in herself and her abilities, she is going to go so far. She has received a conditional offer to study at Oxford University and I know that with her new focus on her studies, and since joining sixth form, she will go on to achieve great things. She is a friendly, polite and hardworking student and has grown in so many ways throughout her time at UHS and we, as a school, are very PROUD of her.
Autumn term:
Francesca (Y7) - For being very engaged and hardworking whilst doing remote learning at home. Francesca also asked her computer science teacher if she could learn coding.
Abeeran (Y11) - For being a model student who is always polite and eager to learn. Abeeran is a dedicated student who exemplifies the PROUD values. He has shown great leadership skills and is a supportive team player.
Munisa (Y10) - For working extremely hard and producing excellent work. Munisa goes above and beyond with regards to her effort.
Victoria (Y11) - For consistently going above and beyond to improve her literacy and exam skills. Victoria is also very supportive of students around her in lessons.
Daniela (Y10) - For being an outstanding student whose talent and ability is exceeded only by her strong ethic. Daniela is always polite and humble. She is respected by her peers and has come on leaps and bounds in her confidence. She has also encouraged other girls to be more confident in lessons.
Keira (Y12) - For her exceptional behaviour and attitude in performing arts. Keira has shown enthusiasm and resilience. She has taken on the main role in the Y12 performance exam and devised her own narration lines to add to the performance.
Winners 2019/20
Adrian (Y8) - For being an incredibly hardworking and polite student. Adrian is very helpful and kind-hearted and is always eager to learn. He exemplifies our PROUD values extremely well.
Elleanna (Y13) - For her commitment to helping the Y7 and Y8 reading intervention groups.
Daniel (Y10) - For being a model student who his peers look up to. Daniel has shown great attitude towards learning which he has received many awards for. He has shown great interest in school sports and is a sociable individual who is able to maintain mature conversations with his teachers. Daniel has also spoken at many assemblies.
Gursharan (Y9) - For asking his teacher to organise a food technology club, which he has encouraged other students to join. Gursharan is polite and professional in every lesson and often stays behind to help clear up after food technology practicals.
Nazifar (Y10) - For showing outstanding independent learning. Nazifar has managed her DT project to achieve an excellent standard of work, well beyond what was expected.
Hemesh (Y7) - For being extremely motivated during Spanish lessons. Hemesh always goes the extra mile. He completes challenges that have been set and asks for extra homework. He is very organised, extremely motivated and positive.
