How Parents and Carers Can Support Post & Prep

Post & Prep has been designed to help students remember more, forget less, and arrive ready to learn. You do not need to be an expert in every subject to support your child.

Understanding Learning

One of the biggest misconceptions about learning is that if a child understands something in a lesson, they will automatically remember it. Research suggests that forgetting is a normal part of learning, and students need opportunities to revisit and retrieve knowledge over time.

Encourage Your Child to Use the Learning Boxes

Rather than asking: "Have you done your homework?" — try asking: "Can you explain one thing you learned from your Learning Box today?" Encouraging students to explain ideas in their own words is a powerful way to strengthen understanding.

Use the Self-Quizzing Boxes Together

You do not need to know the answers. Simply ask the questions, listen to your child's response, encourage them to check their answer, and revisit anything they found difficult.

Little and Often is Best

Short, regular retrieval sessions are more effective than leaving revision until the last minute. Encourage your child to revisit Learning Boxes, complete Self-Quizzing, and review previous tasks regularly — even five to ten minutes can make a difference.
