Drama
Subject Overview:
Drama at our school offers students an engaging and creative outlet to explore performance, storytelling, and collaboration. Through practical workshops, script work, and devised theatre, students develop confidence, communication skills, and an appreciation for the performing arts. Our curriculum covers a range of dramatic styles and practitioners, encouraging both personal expression and critical thinking. From Year 7 onwards, pupils are given opportunities to perform, direct, and analyse in the classroom.
Why study this subject?
Studying Drama offers more than just performance skills—it helps students develop confidence, creativity, and emotional intelligence. Drama encourages teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, all of which are essential for success in both academic and real-world settings. Beyond the classroom:
Students will have the opportunity to engage with the professional world of theatre and performance through visits to live theatre productions throughout the year. They will also be encouraged to participate in after school drama clubs and theatre enrichment sessions. The highlight of the year will be the school production for students to engage with. We thoroughly encourage students to get involved with the backstage and front of house roles as well as performing on stage to guarantee we offer a range of opportunities and experiences.
