Design and Technology

Subject Overview:
Our Design & Technology department offers a curriculum that encourages students to be creative and innovative. The D&T department models the skills needed to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users. Students will be actively engaged in designing and making, applying their knowledge and understanding of a range of materials, ingredients, processes and techniques.
 

Why study this subject?
Studying Design & Technology provides students with the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and working creatively. They will learn how to take risks, become resourceful and capable citizens, and gain knowledge that will enable them to understand the impact of design and technology in our daily lives. Students will also develop practical skills that can be applied across a range of future learning and work opportunities.

Beyond the classroom
We offer a range of enriching food trips.

  • We run and take part in a range of internal and external competitions.

  • We are looking to restart the D&T club after a long pause.

We participate in an annual Technology Week which engages the whole school in the current importance of technology.
