Careers Education 

At Uxbridge High School, we are committed to providing a high-quality careers education programme that inspires, informs and empowers every student to make ambitious and well-informed decisions about their future. 

Our careers programme supports students to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to successfully navigate the ever-changing world of education, employment and training. Through a range of experiences, including employer encounters, workplace experiences, careers guidance, higher education opportunities and curriculum links, students are encouraged to explore the wide variety of pathways available to them. 

We believe that effective careers education plays a vital role in raising aspirations, broadening horizons and helping students understand the relevance of their learning beyond the classroom. 

Our careers programme supports students to: 

  • Develop self-awareness, confidence and independence  

  • Explore a wide range of career pathways and opportunities  

  • Understand the skills employers value  

  • Make informed choices at key transition points, including GCSE options, post-16 and post-18 destinations  

  • Build employability skills that will prepare them for the future workplace  

  • Understand the links between their subjects, future careers and real-world applications  

 

Throughout their time at Uxbridge High School, students have access to a broad range of careers-related learning opportunities, including: 

  • One-to-one careers guidance  

  • Employer encounters and guest speakers  

  • Workplace experiences and work shadowing opportunities  

  • University and apprenticeship information  

  • Careers fairs and themed careers events  

  • Careers workshops and curriculum-linked activities  

Our careers programme is underpinned by the eight Gatsby Benchmarks and is regularly reviewed to ensure students receive meaningful and impactful experiences that prepare them for life beyond school.
