A Golden Start to the New Academic Year at Uxbridge High School

As we begin a new academic year at Uxbridge High School, Principal Louisa Seymour has welcomed students, families and the wider school community back for what promises to be another exciting and successful year. In her first weekly message of the new academic year, Ms Seymour reflected on three key themes: welcoming our community back, looking ahead to Open Evening and sharing our priorities for staff training and teaching and learning.

 

Welcome Back to Our School Community

A particularly warm welcome goes to our new students and families joining Uxbridge High School this September, including our new Year 7 and Year 12 students. Our weekly Principal’s vlog is designed to keep families and the wider community informed about the many exciting things taking place across the school, celebrating our achievements while sharing important updates throughout the year. Ms Seymour also took the opportunity to showcase one of the school’s newest facilities, our new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). The new facility will provide students with even greater opportunities to take part in physical activity, supporting their health, wellbeing and wider development. It will be used for PE lessons, enrichment activities, lunchtime clubs and our after-school programme. The facility will also support opportunities for community use, helping to strengthen the relationship between Uxbridge High School and the local community.

 

Looking Ahead to Open Evening

There is plenty to look forward to as we begin the new school year, including our upcoming Open Evening on Monday 21 September. Following an excellent set of summer examination results, alongside the continued dedication of our staff, support from our families and the achievements of our students, this is an exciting time to showcase what makes Uxbridge High School such a special community. The Open Evening will provide prospective families with the opportunity to visit the school, meet staff and students, explore our facilities and find out more about the opportunities available to young people at Uxbridge High School. We are already receiving a strong number of bookings and look forward to welcoming even more families through our doors.

 

Building Inclusive Classrooms

Staff have also returned to school for two days of professional development and training ahead of the new academic year. A key focus has been on inclusion by design, ensuring that classrooms are welcoming, consistent and accessible to every student. Staff have been working on establishing clear routines that allow all young people to participate fully in their lessons. By creating consistency across classrooms and throughout the school, students can feel confident in what is expected of them and focus on their learning. The ambition is simple: for every young person to be actively engaged in learning and supported to achieve their very best.

 

Knowing Every Student

An important part of the staff training has also been about understanding the individual needs of every student. Teachers are being supported to know the young people in their classrooms and understand the approaches that will help each individual student learn, participate and reach their potential. This commitment extends beyond the classroom, encompassing the wider curriculum, enrichment opportunities, trips, events and the many experiences that form part of life at Uxbridge High School.

 

Looking Forward to a Golden Year

With new facilities, an ambitious approach to teaching and learning, and an incredibly committed school community, there is a real sense of excitement as the new academic year gets underway. As Ms Seymour shared in her welcome message, it is wonderful to be back, and we are looking forward to making it another fantastic Golden Year at Uxbridge High School. We look forward to sharing more of our students' achievements, activities and successes with our community throughout the year.
