Principals Weekly Update

A Focus on Sixth Form, Coursework, and Future Pathways at Uxbridge High School
This week, Principal Louisa Seymour was joined by Uxbridge High School’s newly appointed Head Boy, Hamesh, and Head Girl, Isabella, for her latest vlog update. Together, they explored the exciting opportunities ahead for students, from sixth form applications to coursework focus days, and the importance of balancing hard work with wellbeing.
Dedicated Coursework and Preparation for Exams
Year 11 students have been taking part in a focused “drop-down day”, giving them dedicated time to work on their coursework-based subjects with direct teacher support. For those without coursework, the day has been filled with targeted revision and exam preparation in key subjects such as geography, history, English, maths, and science.
Ms Seymour praised the commitment she has seen from students:
“The young people have been working incredibly hard. I’ve been really impressed by the focus and maturity they’ve shown today.”
She also reminded both parents and students of the importance of planning for the upcoming PP2 mock exams, which are crucial for predicted grades and post-16 or post-18 pathways.
“It’s all about having a plan and making sure revision is balanced with proper rest, healthy routines, and downtime,” she explained. “We know it can be stressful, but the hard work happening now will pay off.”
Sixth Form Success and Independent Study
Ms Seymour also celebrated the thriving Uxbridge High School Sixth Form community, describing Year 12’s transition as “incredibly smooth” and praising Year 13 for being excellent role models.
Responding to student feedback from last year, the school has introduced a new dedicated private study space, allowing every sixth form student to have focused, independent study time built into their fortnightly timetable.
“This is a key part of developing independence,” said Ms Seymour. “It helps our students reach that next level, turning good grades into great ones.”
Sixth Form Open Evening – Thursday 23rd October
Head Girl Isabella and Head Boy Hamesh invited families to the upcoming Sixth Form Open Evening, taking place on Thursday 23rd October 2025, from 5pm to 7pm.
“This will be an amazing opportunity to meet our incredible teachers and speak to motivated, dedicated students firsthand,” said Isabella.
“You’ll get a real insight into what makes Uxbridge High School Sixth Form such a special place to learn and grow,” added Hamesh.
Families are encouraged to sign up via the Uxbridge High School website to secure a place at the event.
A Busy Term Ahead
Ms Seymour also thanked families for their support during the recent Open Evenings and Mornings, which saw record attendance and overwhelmingly positive feedback from visiting parents. She reminded everyone of key upcoming dates:
- Year 8 Parents’ Evening – Thursday 16th October
- Early finish – Wednesday 15th October
Thank you as always for your support. We look forward to sharing more next week at the same time and in the same place.
