Hot Weather Arrangements

Updated: 25.06.26 at 15:00

Following a review of the latest forecasts, the Met Office has extended its red warning for extreme heat to include Friday 26th June.

Friday 26 June: Students will attend Periods 1 and 2 as normal. A grab-and-go service will be available at breaktime. Following break, students will return to their form rooms and a phased dismissal will take place during period 3, with all students expected to have left the school site by 11:20am.

Throughout this week, we have sought to keep teaching and learning continuing as normally as possible whilst making sensible adjustments to support student wellbeing. This has included relocating a number of classes to cooler rooms, introducing additional cooling measures in examination venues and staggering dismissal times to support safer journeys home and reduce pressure on public transport.

Students may continue to wear UHS PE kit, do not need to wear blazers or ties, and should bring a full water bottle to school and refill it regularly throughout the day.

Looking Ahead to Next Week

From Monday 29th June, the school will return to its normal timetable and the usual school day. Students should return to wearing their normal school uniform. Whilst blazers will not be required, school ties must be worn.

Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support and understanding. The health, safety and wellbeing of our students remain our highest priority.
