Weekly Update
Dear parents, carers, students, and members of the Uxbridge High School community,
I trust this article finds you in good health and high spirits, and I would like to extend my heartfelt wishes for a joyous New Year! As we embark on the journey of 2024, I am delighted to provide you with an update on the recent developments and achievements at Uxbridge High School.
Empowering Our Students:
Last week, during our weekly video vlog, I shared three essential phrases with you all: "Practice makes perfect," "Brilliant at the basics," and "Zero Heroes." Today, I wish to remind you of these guiding principles and encourage you to incorporate them into your discussions at home with your children. Ask them about their progress towards becoming 'Zero Heroes,' enquire about what 'practice makes permanent' means to them and inspire them to excel in the fundamentals. When these principles are reinforced at home, they greatly facilitate the work of our dedicated staff, allowing us to focus on providing the myriad of fantastic opportunities we offer.
In this article, we are honored to feature the remarkable Miss Kaur from our history department, who will shed light on what makes Uxbridge High School truly exceptional. Miss Kaur's contributions to our school exemplify the wealth of opportunities we provide to our students.
A message from Miss Kaur - Our Unique Curriculum: Bringing Learning to Life
One of the distinctive features of Uxbridge High School is our curriculum, which we tailor to our students' needs and interests. Our commitment to fostering a rich, engaging learning environment allows us to bring lessons to life, both inside and outside the classroom. Whether it's exploring the history of Nazi Germany and the Cold War in Berlin, or visiting 10 Downing Street to learn about the inner workings of democracy, our students enjoy immersive learning experiences that extend beyond textbooks.
Enriching Student Experiences
Miss Kaur's role at Uxbridge High School extends far beyond the classroom. She has played a pivotal role in the creation of our 'Mural for History,' a stunning visual representation of historical events, designed by Mr Baines, and brought to life by Miss Kaur. This magnificent mural now graces our school premises and will continue to be an integral part of our curriculum across various subject areas.
Furthermore, a group of fortunate Year 7 students will have the privilege of visiting 10 Downing Street for a coding event, an initiative that owes its existence to Miss Kaur's dedication and organisational skills. Such experiences enhance our students' holistic development, instilling a passion for learning that extends beyond traditional boundaries.
Holocaust Assemblies
Next week, we have thought-provoking assemblies planned, focused on Holocaust remembrance. These educational sessions are yet another testament to the tireless efforts of Miss Kaur and the history department. Stay tuned for more details on these important events.
Clubs and Extracurricular Activities: Enriching Student Life
We are excited to announce a renewed emphasis on students' participation in clubs and extracurricular activities. Currently, approximately 50% of our students regularly attend these clubs, but we aspire to increase this number this term. Our wide curricular team will provide more information on this initiative in the coming weeks.
As we conclude, I am grateful for your unwavering support and involvement in our school community. Your commitment to your children's education is truly commendable. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for your attention, and I wish you all a wonderful weekend. May the days ahead be filled with warmth and joy.
Take care,
Louisa Seymour
