Principals Weekly Update

GCSE Success, Year 11 Preparation and Sixth Form Enrichment

Celebrating achievement and preparing students for the future

In this week’s vlog, Alan King, Vice Principal at Uxbridge High School, reflects on a busy and successful week, highlighting student achievements, preparations for GCSE examinations and exciting developments in our enrichment programme.

Celebrating our best GCSE results in over a decade

We are delighted to confirm that Uxbridge High School has achieved its best GCSE results in over a decade. Our Attainment 8 score reached an impressive 48, above the national average.

More than 50% of our students achieved Grade 5 or above in both English and maths, with over 20% achieving Grade 7 or above in both subjects.

These results reflect the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, providing a strong foundation as we continue to focus on our Inclusion by Design approach and ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve our Gold Standard.

Supporting Year 11 for examination success

This week also saw our Year 10 and 13 students take part in a drama workshop, alongside our Year 11 Preparation Evening, which welcomed parents and carers into school.

The evening provided practical guidance on revision strategies, supporting young people at home and creating the right environment for students to achieve their individual goals as they prepare for their GCSE examinations.

Working in partnership with families remains an important part of helping every student reach their full potential.

Expanding opportunities for Year 13

Our Sixth Form enrichment programme has also been enhanced, giving Year 13 students more opportunities to develop leadership skills and broaden their experiences beyond the curriculum. Activities include entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence (AI), coding, Model United Nations (Model UN) and the Maths Olympiad.

These experiences help students develop valuable skills and attributes that can strengthen their applications to universities, apprenticeships and future employment.

At Uxbridge High School, we are committed to continually improving the opportunities available to our students, ensuring they are well equipped for their next steps.
