Celebrating student success and welcoming prospective families
In this week’s vlog, Amanda Erasmus, DSL and SENCO at Uxbridge High School, reflects on another successful Open Morning, welcoming prospective parents and students to experience the school’s learning environment.
Amanda also looks ahead to the final Open Morning on Tuesday 13 October, offering families another opportunity to visit the school and discover what Uxbridge High School has to offer.
She also highlights the school’s Awards Evening, where students’ achievements and successes from the previous academic year will be celebrated and recognised.
Safeguarding remains a priority
Safeguarding continues to be a key priority at Uxbridge High School. Amanda explains the importance of ensuring that every student feels safe and supported, not only within the school environment but also in the wider community.
The school has a dedicated safeguarding team of ten members of staff, alongside a guidance leader, to help provide students with the appropriate support and guidance.
Parents and carers who have concerns about their child are encouraged to contact the school so that the team can offer advice and assistance where needed.
Keeping young people safe at home and online
Amanda also shares an important reminder for parents and carers about the role they play in keeping young people safe outside school.
She encourages families to take an active interest in their children’s online activities, including their use of mobile phones, laptops and tablets. Having regular, open conversations about online safety and staying safe in the community can help young people make informed decisions and understand where to seek support.
At Uxbridge High School, safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and working in partnership with families is essential to ensuring every student feels safe, protected and supported.
