Extra-curricular activities and clubs

Alongside the normal academic activities of Uxbridge High School, there are a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities. Interests such as chess, art, natural history, drama and science are also catered for and there is a flourishing school choir.  There will also be opportunities to learn musical instruments.

Attending a club or activity is a great way to have some fun and make some new friends. We think everyone should join at least 2 clubs when they start. These take place before school, during lunch and after school. Some clubs occur weekly and others only at specific times of the year.  Here is a list of clubs that will be running when you start:

Art club  Computer science club  Coding club
3D printing club  Food technology  Geography club
Maths aid club  DJ club  Music club
Start to sing club  Photography club  CREST club
  • Sports clubs: Some of you will be competitive and want to try out for sports teams and some of you will just want to take part.  There are lots to choose from and include badminton (before school all year groups, boys and girls), rugby (all year groups, boys and girls), football (girls and boys), basketball, dance, fitness, boxing and table tennis.
  • Drama clubs: We run a weekly drama club and this is open to all students, so you will be made very welcome there. We love creating and putting on plays at lunchtime and sometimes after school too. No audition is necessary! We are a very creative and dramatic bunch here at the school and the students here all enjoy their drama lessons as well as the chance to take part in a range of school productions either as an actor, backstage crew or a technical whizz!

Our most recent school performance was a wonderful musical production of Bugsy Malone, which all the students loved. It was a fun and messy production! Another popular event that we run is the Summer Showcase where we join with music and dance in a wonderful evening of creativity and talent from our Orsino drama studio and open air theatre. Auditioning for all our productions is fair and fun, and we encourage students here to give it a go! We will support you and help you prepare and make sure that you do not get stage fright! So, whether you have not done drama before or you are an experienced actor, we have something to suit you!

  • Reflection space - We have a reflection space that is open every lunchtime for students that want a space to speak to their friends and reflect. Our student ambassadors are also based in this room if you need to talk to someone.
