September 2021 — Welcome back

The return to normality has meant the PE department has been able to begin the year with an extensive and popular extra-curricular programme.

We have been delighted to welcome huge numbers to our clubs, currently running, rugby, football, dance, netball, fitness, volleyball and badminton for both boys and girls across all year groups.

In the coming weeks, we will also return to competitive fixtures, taking on our local rivals across the borough in fixtures and tournaments for all sports. Watch this space for an update on upcoming fixtures, results and the star players and performers in each of our teams!

We would like to say a huge well done to everyone that has joined and participated in a club already this term. However, we would also like to encourage all students to get involved in the extra-curricular opportunities available, whether that be to gain a competitive edge, refine and improve specific skills, or simply to become active and increase fitness levels.

July 2021

Well what a year we have had. Whilst it has been extremely challenging in and out of the classroom, it has been fantastic to see our pupils grow and develop.

This term has seen the return of our Summer sports and clubs, which has been fantastic, as this was missed out on last academic year. Pupils took part in Athletics, Cricket, Rounders, Softball, Tennis, Basketball and Gaelic Football. Fixtures are still currently postponed until further notice with this constantly being reviewed based around government guidance and pupil well-fare, although we are hoping we can move forward with this come September 2021.

Pupils took part in National School Sports week, competing in teams for different sport titles. Activities ranged from our very own Euro 2020 competition, Crossfit challenges, well-being hour and sports from around the world. All pupils got stuck in, and it was great to see a variety of sports tops worn in lessons. Check out our social media pages (Twitter — @UHSPE, Instagram — @uxbridgehigh) for more information.

We would like to offer our good luck wishes to all Year 11 and 13 sports pupils receiving their results this year. You pushed through on a very challenging year and deserve all the grades you will receive.

Finally, we want to wish all our pupils at UHS a good and safe summer, and we will see you in September.

March 2021
Within the PE department we spent a large amount of time, before the return to school in January, to decide what we would deliver throughout our remote learning schedule.
We felt that this was a great opportunity to spend some time looking at theoretical areas of Physical Education and looking in detail at some of the sports that we had been covering in our practical lessons.
Pupils completed research projects; meal plans and cooking; health and wellbeing topics and fitness challenges. It was great to see how engaged some of our pupils were through social media and videos sent within lessons.
As a department we are pleased to announce that, now we have returned to learning at school, we will be providing extra-curricular clubs to Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. Fixtures are still currently postponed until further notice with this constantly being reviewed based around government guidance and pupil well-fare.
With us now offering BTEC Dance as a subject option in KS4, we have now opened our new Dance studio. We cant wait to see how this is put to great use through our pupils.
We thank all parents for their support throughout this difficult time and look forward to getting back to some form of normality in PE.

September 2020

Since returning to school in September the students have adapted excellently to some of the challenging circumstances that we currently face. Students have embraced the change and are applying themselves commendably within their PE lessons.
As a department we are pleased to announce that year 8 extra-curricular is back up and running with year 7 and 9 recommencing after half-term. Fixtures are currently postponed until further notice with this constantly being reviewed based around government guidance and pupil well-fare.
We are excited to now offer Dance as one of our KS4 options, with the new Dance Studio facility in the process of being created.
Finally, we would like to welcome Miss. O'Connor to our outstanding PE team. We thank all parents for their ongoing support this year and hope to commence normal Physical Education soon.
